Trip Overview

Mardi Himal trekking is very popular, easy and probably the best trekking destination in Nepal. Walking through Gurung village where you can experience some local culture, trekking through lush forest and dramatic mountain range all the way to Mardi himal base camp and panoramic views of the Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri, fishtail, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu range and many more other peaks with beautiful landscape and many other things can experience within 10 days’ time. Mardi himal trek is the best chance to experience trekking in the Himalaya people who have very limited time to trek in Nepal and achieve above 4000 meters. The best time to do Mardi himal trekking is from January to May and October to December. March–April are especially more beautiful with different colors of the Rhododendron flower, the national flower of Nepal.

Mardi Himal Trek special package cost for solo and group trekkers is USD 720 to USD 1160 per person depending on the number of pax booked. Mardi Himal trek cost includes almost all necessary things like trekking permit, Annapurna conservation fee, Mardi Himal entry fee, guide cost, porter cost, local transportation service, lodging and foods during the trekking. Three-star hotel in Kathmandu and Pokhara, Kathmandu - Pokhara - Kathmandu flight. Below is our day to day Itinerary of the Mardi Himal Trek 8 Days.

Itineraries

Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu 1370 meter

A representative from Guide for Nepal Pvt. Ltd. will heartily welcome to you in Tribhuvan international (TIA) airport 1370 meter from sea level in any time of your arrival and help you transfer to hotel at Thamel. Kathmandu is capital city of Nepal and it is normally busy during the day. It is about 15-25 minutes’ drive from airport to Thamel. It depends on your arrival time and traffic. You might have some time to explore Thamel or visit some important place in Kathmandu city and final preparation for Trekking from next day.

Day 02

Kathmandu – Pokhara – Pitam Deurali 2050 meter

After breakfast in your hotel, you will go to domestic airport with guide by private vehicle to catch domestic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara which take normally 25 minutes. There is golden opportunity to see magnificent view of Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and Annapurna range during Kathmandu – Pokhara flight in clear weather. Our jeep driver will pick up from Pokhara regional international airport and drop to Dhampus phedi, which is about 30 minute drive from Pokhara regional international airport. we start our trek and walking throw Dhampus village – Pothana to reach Pitam Deurali 2050 meter. It will be 3-4 hours trek including lunch break on the way.

Day 3

Pitam Deurali to Low Camp 2970 meter

From Pitam Deurali to Low camp 2970 meter is trekking throw mixed and rhododendron forest all the time. Lunch break will be in forest camp or suitable place. It is almost 900-meter ascent from Pitam Deurali to low camp normally need 5-7 hours in average.

Day 4

Low Camp to High Camp 3660 meter

After breakfast Trek continue to uphill until Badal Dada. Badal Dada is first best view point in Mardi Himal trek. You will have beautiful 360-degree view including Annapurna South, Himchuli, Mardi Himal, fishtail and other peaks. You probably can make short tea/coffee break and enjoy view before continue towards high camp. From Badal Dada to High camp 3660 meter is maximum 2/3 hours trek gradual and step uphill. High camp is Last tea house for overnight sleep in Mardi Himal trek. So, every one stop here even trip finish before or after lunch time. eat and drink properly, stay warm and hydrated to keep your body fit to continue Mardi Himal base camp next day early morning.

Day 5

High Camp - Mardi Base Camp – Badal Dada 3200 meter

Be ready early morning at mentioned time with all warm equipment, flash light, take hot water if you have hot thermos bottle with you even you can buy tea/coffee or water on the way. hike to Mardi Himal base camp 4200 meter roughly take 3-4 hours ascending about 600 meter and same way back to high camp for lunch then trek down to Badal dada. Total trip can be 6-8 hours in average.

Day 6

Badal dada – Siding - Pokhara 3200 meter

Enjoy your last best view from Badal Dada and take breakfast before heading down to siding 1900m. it is about 1300-meter descending from Badal Dada to siding village where we can catch jeep and drive back to Pokhara. It might take 2-3 hours trek down and about 2 hours’ drive from siding to Pokhara.

Day 7

Pokhara to Kathmandu 1370 meter

You can have breakfast as program and be ready to back Kathmandu on time as per planned, drive 6-8 hours or fly 25 minutes.

Day 8

Back to home country

If your flight time is late afternoon or evening, you can visit some place in Kathmandu your own or if you need help, we can provide guide and vehicle on extra charge. Otherwise, be ready at hotel on time as per your flight details to catch international flight. A Representative from Guide for Nepal Pvt Ltd will arrange transportation and drop you in Tribhuvan international (TIA) airport and good bye for this time wishing safe journey back to home.

The highest altitude in Mardi Himal trek is 4200 meters.

Normally, 5-7 hours walk every day in trek.

Mostly twin bed room with common toilet, few place is sharing room.

January to May and October to December is the best time to go Mardi Himal trek.

Mardi Himal base camp is really good for views.

Useful Information:

  • Make sure are you physically fit for trek/tour.
  • Double check all the trekking equipment before you start trek.
  • Make sure all gadget is ready/full charged and well dress before start birding tour.

Hats off to Phurkel Sherpa, many thanks again to you for a wonderful ten days exploring Nepal. I was recommended Phurkel as a guide by a friend, and I'm so glad that I hired him. I explained my requirements and limitations (such as budget and location), and Phurkel tailored a trekking package for me. He gave me several options, and I settled on the Annapurna Circuit trek, which best suited my goals and budget. He picked me up and dropped me off from my hotels in Kathmandu before and after the trek. Phurkel even gave me tips and advice about where to go either side of the trek - thanks for the recommendation of Nagarkot, what an amazing place to acclimatise! From beginning to end, Phurkel was thoughtful, knowledgeable and generous. He always checked that I was alright physically and mentally, making sure that I stayed hydrated and well-fed. Despite our trek being in the off-season, his good relationships with the owners of hotels and teahouses meant we always had somewhere nice to stay and tasty meals to eat. So many good dal bhats! To top it off, Phurkel is deeply knowledgeable about his country, its people and its wildlife. I learned so much about Nepal's numerous ethnic groups, their ancient cultures and the amazing locations they live in. Phurkel is also an expert on local wildlife, particularly Nepal's many bird species. I often felt like I was in my very own nature documentary - he would make every effort to show me all the birds he spotted (he's a proper eagle eye!) More than anything, Phurkel is great company. I was a solo trekker, so we spent a lot of time together. He was always available to chat when I wanted to, and he thoughtfully answered my many, many questions. Perhaps most importantly, and one of the reasons I would like to call Phurkel a good friend, he made sure that I had the space to be private and alone when I needed it. Genuinely one of the best weeks I've ever had, from beginning to end!

I just got back from ACT about 1 week ago and this is my 1st hiking trip at Nepal. I loved every bit of this journey as Phurkel arrangement is really giving me an ease of mind. Firstly, his prepping for us prior to arriving in Nepal is so assuring. Secondly, once we landed at Kathmandu Airport, he managed the entire journey smoothly. Thirdly, he guide us on how to complete the hike successfully and more importantly "safely".
