Trip Overview

Everest base camp (EBC) trek is one of the most popular, beautiful and memorable trekking routes in Nepal. It takes you near the bottom of Mt. Everest, walking through Sherpa villages, visiting Buddhist monasteries and enjoying beautiful scenery every day. Everest base camp trek starts by flying from Kathmandu to Lukla during the low trekking season and during the peak trekking season. The Everest base camp trek starts at about 5–6 hours' drive from Kathmandu to Manthali airport and, the next morning, 15 minutes fly to Lukla airport to start the trek through Sherpa village and follow the Dudhkoshi river valley every day. Namche Bazaar is one of the most popular Sherpa villages along the Everest base camp trekking trail. The best time to do an Everest base camp trek is from October to December in Autumn and February to May in spring. Besides this time, it is still possible to do Everest base camp trekking, but not really recommendable due to rain, high chance of snowy weather, temperature, flying in/out of Lukla and trek all the way to EBC. Everest base camp is more crowded in spring, with hundreds of climbers trying to summit. Everest Base Camp (EBC) trek costs start from USD 1320 to USD 2115 per person depending on the number of pax booked. The EBC trek cost includes Khumbu entry permit fee, guide and porter fees, Sagarmatha national park fee, both-way lukla flight cost, Kathmandu-Manthali jeep cost and hotel costs in Kathmandu, lodging and food during the trek.

Below is our day to day Itinerary of the Everest Base Camp Trek 16 Days.

Had an amazing experience of the “Everest View Trek” with Phurkel! Organised and down-to-earth. Ensuring everything ran smoothly from start to finish and always making sure everyone was well taken cared of. His relaxed nature and patience (with our endless questions), along with his insightful sharing about the trails, wildlife and local culture, made the trek stress-free and more “bearable”. 😆 I would highly recommend Phurkel if you’re looking for a trustworthy, knowledgeable and professional guide!

Hats off to Phurkel Sherpa, many thanks again to you for a wonderful ten days exploring Nepal. I was recommended Phurkel as a guide by a friend, and I'm so glad that I hired him. I explained my requirements and limitations (such as budget and location), and Phurkel tailored a trekking package for me. He gave me several options, and I settled on the Annapurna Circuit trek, which best suited my goals and budget. He picked me up and dropped me off from my hotels in Kathmandu before and after the trek. Phurkel even gave me tips and advice about where to go either side of the trek - thanks for the recommendation of Nagarkot, what an amazing place to acclimatise! From beginning to end, Phurkel was thoughtful, knowledgeable and generous. He always checked that I was alright physically and mentally, making sure that I stayed hydrated and well-fed. Despite our trek being in the off-season, his good relationships with the owners of hotels and teahouses meant we always had somewhere nice to stay and tasty meals to eat. So many good dal bhats! To top it off, Phurkel is deeply knowledgeable about his country, its people and its wildlife. I learned so much about Nepal's numerous ethnic groups, their ancient cultures and the amazing locations they live in. Phurkel is also an expert on local wildlife, particularly Nepal's many bird species. I often felt like I was in my very own nature documentary - he would make every effort to show me all the birds he spotted (he's a proper eagle eye!) More than anything, Phurkel is great company. I was a solo trekker, so we spent a lot of time together. He was always available to chat when I wanted to, and he thoughtfully answered my many, many questions. Perhaps most importantly, and one of the reasons I would like to call Phurkel a good friend, he made sure that I had the space to be private and alone when I needed it. Genuinely one of the best weeks I've ever had, from beginning to end!

I just got back from ACT about 1 week ago and this is my 1st hiking trip at Nepal. I loved every bit of this journey as Phurkel arrangement is really giving me an ease of mind. Firstly, his prepping for us prior to arriving in Nepal is so assuring. Secondly, once we landed at Kathmandu Airport, he managed the entire journey smoothly. Thirdly, he guide us on how to complete the hike successfully and more importantly "safely". Phurkel is also very knowledgeable about the history and geography of the land and always willing to share those infor. He is also well verse of the bird species. Last but not least, he is a FUN guy.. and you need this as you be spending many days with your guife. (can't imagine if my guide is a quiet person) In summary, definitely recommend Phurkel to anyone who want to explore the wonder of Nepal.
