Trip Overview

Renjo La Pass trekking is in the eastern part of Nepal in the Everest region. The Renjo Pass trekking program offers home to Sherpa peoples, Sherpa culture, their settlers, old monasteries, beautiful Gokiyo lake, Thame Valley and Ngang Pala Pass, where Tibetan peoples used to come to Nepal till 2004. The many small yak-grazing settlements that we travel through will give you a unique glimpse into the daily lives of the Sherpa people. Renjo Pass is probably the best Everest view point in the Everest region. Similarly, Gokiyo Ri Peak offers 360-degree views with four mountains above eight thousand, including Everest. Nozumpa glacier, the longest glacier in Nepal.

The best time to go to Gokiyo Lake and Renjo La pass trekking is from March to May and September to December. Renjo La Pass Trekking 15 Days cost start from USD USD 1230 to USD 1885 per person depending on the numbers of pax booked. Renjo Pass trek cost includes khumbu entry permit fee, guide and porter fees, Sagarmatha National Park fee, both-way lukla flight cost, Kathmandu-Manthali jeep cost, Kathmandu hotel cost, lodging and food during the trek. Lukla flights operate from Kathmandu during the low season and during the peak season, Lukla flights operate from Manthali and Ramechapap.

Itineraries

Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu

A representative from Guide for Nepal Pvt Ltd will heartily welcome to you in Tribhuvan international (TIA) airport 1370 meter from sea level in any time of your arrival and help you transfer to hotel at Thamel. Kathmandu is capital city of Nepal and it is normally busy during the day. It is about 15-25 minutes’ drive from airport to Thamel. It depends on your arrival time and traffic. You might have short time to visit some place in Kathmandu and final preparation for Trip from next day.

Day 02

Kathmandu to Manthali

According to our trip planned, take breakfast and be ready in your hotel with all necessary equipment for the ebc-cho la pass-gokiyo trek. Kathmandu to Manthali airport is approximately 130 km in road distance, and it takes about 5/6 hours’ drive by private jeep or car. Manthali airport is situated at 475 meters from sea level. Manthali to Lukla flights start early in the morning during the peak season. So, make sure to reach Manthali airport one day before or the same day early in the morning to catch a Lukla flight.

Day 3

Manthali – Lukla Airport - Phakding

Make sure to wake up and be ready on time to check in at Manthali airport for your flight to Lukla 2805 meters. The Manthali to Lukla flight is about 15 minutes, and we will meet our assistant/porter in Lukla, then start the trek to Phakding 2652 meters. Lukla to Phakding is a very short and easy trek. It takes 3–4 hours to walk through Sherpa village, following the Dudhkoshi river (Milky River) and enjoying the mountain scenery.

Day 4

Phakding to Namche Bazar

After breakfast in the lodge, the trek starts by following the Dudhkoshi river (Milky River), crossing the suspension bridge a few times above Dudhkoshi river. Manzu is the entry gate of Sagarmatha National Park. When you enter Sagarmatha make sure to follow the rules and regulations of the national park while you trek inside the national park. Jorsalle is the best and last option for lunch break. Phakding to Namche bazar is about 5–6 hours. The trail is gradual, and it is quite steps uphill after crossing Hillary Bridge. Namche bazaar is situated at 3440 meters. Explore Namche bazar if you reach there in the early afternoon.

Day 5

Acclimatization day in Namche Bazar

Today is acclimatization day, take a hot breakfast and be ready for a short hike to Everest view point or all the way to Everest view hotel and back to Namche bazar for lunch. After lunch, you can take a rest and explore around Namche bazar in the afternoon. There are some nice bakeries, an ATM, a mountain equipment store and other shops. So, you have a last chance to buy some mountain equipment for your trek in case you forgot in Kathmandu.

Day 6

Namche to Dole

After breakfast, the trek starts at Namche bazar, following the Everest base camp trail till Kyanjungma, then following the Gokiyo Valley Trail and climbing up to Mong la Dada. After that trek, we descended to Phortse Thanga. It might be suitable for a lunch break, then trek continue uphill to Dole 4000 meters. Namche to dole is 5–7 hours depending on walking peace. Namche to Dole is roughly 700 meters ascent and a few hundred meters descent as well. Dole is a small place that has 6–7 lodges.

Day 7

Dole to Machhermo

Dole to Machhermo 4470 meters is quite a short-day trek of about 480 meters, ascending gradually in 4–5 hours. The trek normally finishes before lunch. Half-day afternoon you can take a rest or a short walk around to acclimatize. You are already above 4000 meters. Keep your body warm, drink and eat properly, stay hydrated. If you have any problems or AMS symptoms, share them with your friends or guide. Don’t hide problem and continue.

Day 8

Machhermo to Gokiyo Lake

Machhermo to Gokiyo lake, 4790 meters, is also quite an easy trek gradually uphill, ascending roughly 300 meters in 3–4 hours. Just take breakfast on time as regular and start trek to reach Gokiyo Lake early in the afternoon before the weather changes in the afternoon. You are already above 4000 meters. Keep your body warm, drink and eat properly, stay hydrated. If you have any problems or AMS symptoms, share them with your friends or guide. Don’t hide problem and continue.

Day 9

Climb Gokiyo Ri Peak

Gokiyo Ri peak is an amazing view point in the Everest region. You will have incredible views of four mountains above 8000 meters, including Everest (top of the world) from the top of Gokiyo Ri peak. No doubt in an amazing 360 view from the top of Gokiyo Ri peak. Take a hot breakfast and trek up to Gokyo Ri 5357m. In the morning and rest in the afternoon. Keep your body warm, drink and eat properly, stay hydrated. If you have any problems or AMS symptoms, share them with your friends or guide. Don’t hide problem and continue.

Day 10

Gokiyo Lake – Renjo la - Lungden

Today is a big day. Be ready at the mentioned time with a bag pack and all necessary equipment. Eat a hot breakfast, carry a chocolate bar/energy bar and take enough water. The trek starts early in the morning by walking near Gokiyo lake and starts climbing uphill towards Reno La la pass 5360 meters, then descending all the way down to Lungden 4300 meters. Gokiyo Lake to Renjo La Pass is almost 570 meters ascent and Renjo La Pass to Lung is almost 1060 meters descent. The average time from Gokiyo to Lungden via Reno la Pass is 7–9 hours.

Day 11

Lungden to Namche Bazar

Lungden To Namche 3440 meters is mostly downhill, and some easy flat walking throws Thame village. It might take 6–7 hours, including a lunch break on the way. Lungden to Namche bazar is almost 1000 meters descent.

Day 12

Namche to Lukla

Today is the last day of three pass treks from Namche to Lukla 2805 meters. Take a proper hot breakfast and start your trek as soon as possible. It is the same way back from Namche to Lukla. You might remember walking from Lukla – phakding – Namche on the way up. Normally, Namche to Lukla is 6–8 hours and almost 700 meters descending and a few hundred meters ascending as well. It is your last chance to see/treat/tip/goodbye to your assistant/porter as you like.

Day 13

Lukla – Manthali - Kathmandu

Lukla – Manthali flights start early in the morning. Finish packing and be ready for breakfast on time as mentioned by your guide last night. The Lukla to Manthali flight is about 15 minutes and the drive to Kathmandu is about 5–6 hours.

Day 14

Free day in Kathmandu

Today there is not a proper plan in the program. You can do some activities in Kathmandu at extra cost or on your own. Otherwise, shopping/free/extra day or in case of bad weather to fly out/in Kathmandu.

Day 15

Back to home

If your flight time is late afternoon or evening, you can visit some place in Kathmandu your own or if you need help, we can provide guide and vehicle on extra charge. Otherwise, be ready at hotel on time as per your flight details to catch international flight. A Representative from Guide for Nepal Pvt Ltd will arrange transportation and drop you in Tribhuvan international (TIA) airport and good bye for this time wishing safe journey back to home.
