Trip Overview
Naar-Phu valley is a newly opened trekking route for foreigners. Naar Phu valley lies between popular mountain ranges like Annapurna, Manaslu, Himlung. Naar phu trekking is still not allowed for individual trekkers. You need a minimum of two people to book this trek with a government-registered trekking agency to get a special trekking permit and hire a guide and porter.
Naar phu special trekking permit costs are different in the spring and autumn seasons. Annapurna's conservation fee is the same all-round. From Koto, we follow Naar Khola till we reach Phu village 4080m at sea level. Phu village is quite an old and historical village. After Phu village, the trek back down to Gumba, crossing Naar Khola and climbing up to Naar village 4110m from sea level. Phu and Naar are the two biggest villages in the Naar -Phu valley. After Naar village, the trek continues towards Manang valley, crossing Kang La pass at 5300m From sea level and trek down to Ngawal village 3650m. From Ngawal village, you can trek to Manang village and continue to the Annapurna circuit or drive back to Kathmandu. The total trekking distance from Dharapani to Manang via Phu, Naar and Kang La pass is about 95 kilometers.
Naar, Phu trek costs is $1135 to $1370 per person. The total cost depends on group size, hiking season and service included in the trip. Normally, Naar and phu trekking costs include Kathmandu hotel, all ground transportation, Naar, phu special permit, Annapurna conservation fee, trekking permit, guide and porter with their food and salary, your food, accommodation and hot drinks/ tea, coffee as per plan during the trek.
Below is our day to day Itinerary of the Naar Phu Trek 14 days.
Itineraries
Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu
A representative from Guide for Nepal Pvt. Ltd. will heartily welcome to you in Tribhuvan international (TIA) airport 1370 meter from sea level in any time of your arrival and help you transfer to hotel at Thamel. Kathmandu is capital city of Nepal and it is normally busy during the day. It is about 15-25 minutes’ drive from airport to Thamel. It depends on your arrival time and traffic. You might have some time to explore Thamel or visit some important place in Kathmandu city and final preparation for Trekking from next day.
Day 02

Kathmandu sightseeing
Today is preparation of Upper mustang trek specially we have submitted Nepal visa with original passport in immigration office to get Naar - phu special permit. After breakfast you can visit two popular place BAUDHANATH STUPA and PASUPATINATH TEMPLE in Kathmandu and preparation of trek.
Day 3

Kathmandu to Dharapani
After breakfast in your hotel first day journey start from Kathmandu to Besisahar by private vehicle driving about 175 km via Prithivi high way. Besisahar to Dharapani 1860-meter is about 43 km drive throw off road. Kathmandu to dharapani is about 218 km takes almost 7-8 hour’s drive.
Day 4

Dharapani to Koto
First day of Naar-phu trek start from Dharapani following marsyangdi river valley, passing danakyu, timang village, thanchok and koto village where from naar-phu trek start. Trek from dharapani to koto is gradually uphill and some place is step up to timang village. Timang is good place for tea/coffee or lunch break it depends on your time. From timang the rest trail is more easier following motor road to koto 2600-meter. Dharapani to koto takes about 6-7 hours, ascending almost 850 meters for roughly 14 km in distance.
Day 5

Koto to Metha
First, we have to show our Naar-phu special trekking permit in police check post then start trek towards koto crossing marsyangdi river and start following Naar khola all day crossing just once. koto to Meta is approximately 16 km gradually and some steps ascending 960 meters treks about 6-7 hours. Meta is situated at 3560 meters above sea level in naar phu trekking route.
Day 6

Meta to Chyaku
Meta to Chyaku is quite short-day trekking about 4-5 hours gradual uphill ascending just 220 meters. Meta to Chyaku is roughly 8/9 km and trek normally complete before lunch. You can have short walk around or just take a rest in the afternoon. Chyaku is located at 3780 meters from sea level.
Day 7

Chyaku to Phu village
Chyaku to Phu village is roughly 8/9 km and also easy and short day walk about 4 hours more or less. Phu village is last village naar-phu valley situated at 4080 meters above sea level. Phu village is really unique village you can explore in the afternoon.
Day 8

Phu village to Chyaku
Phu village to Chyaku is really easy and short-day trek you might start late morning. It is just few hours walk back same way down.
Day 9

Chyaku to Naar village
Chyaku to Naar village is 5-6 hours trek descending and ascending few hundred meters crossing Naar khola. Chyaku to Naar village approximately 11 km in trek distance and Naar village is situated at 4110 meters from sea level.
Day 10

Naar village - Kang la pass - Ngawal village
Today is big and important day to cross Kang la pass 5306 and trek towards manang valley. So, be ready early morning at mentioned time with all necessary equipment, some chocolate/energy bar, enough water then atart trek after some hot breakfast. Naar village to Ngawal village via Kang la pass is about 15 km ascending 1196 meters and descending 1536 meters. Approximately trekking time is 8-10 hours depends on walking speed.
Day 11

Ngawal village to Manang village
Ngawal village to Manang is about 3-4 hours easy walk descending about 150 meters for 9 km distance. Manang is quite big village with some nice café and hotels. Explore Manang in the afternoon. Manang is situated at 3540 meters above sea level in Annapurna circuit trail.
Day 12

Manang to Besisahar jeep drive
Manang to Besisahar is approximately 98.1 km off road jeep drive in 4-5 hours. Manang to Besisahar is about 2780 meters descending by jeep driving all the way down.
Day 13

Besisahar to Kathmandu
Besisahar to Kathmandu is 175 km via dumre-besisahar and Prithivi highway normally take 5-6 hours by private car, jeep, bus. It depends on road condition and traffic. Anyway, it is better to start early morning after your breakfast in lodge and you can make short break few times on the road wherever is possible.
Day 14

Back to home country
If your flight time is late afternoon or evening, you can visit some place in Kathmandu your own or if you need help, we can provide guide and vehicle on extra charge. Otherwise, be ready at hotel on time as per your flight details to catch international flight. A Representative from Guide for Nepal Pvt Ltd will arrange transportation and drop you in Tribhuvan international (TIA) airport and good bye for this time wishing safe journey back to home.

Naar – phu trek is medium hard.
the highest altitude in Naar – phu trek is kang la pass 5320 meters.
Normally, 5-7 hours walk every day in trek.
Mostly twin bed room with common toilet, few place is sharing room.
There is no snow all the time.
March to May and September to November is the best time to go Annapurna and Tilicho trek.
Naar phu is worth for views.

- Better not encourage street dog to follow you/group by giving food.
- Better not encourage children to beg by giving money/candy.

- Listen your tour Guide.
- Follow rule and regulations while you are trekking in national park/conservation area.
- Eat and drink properly, stay hydrated, read your body and listen AMS alerts while you are in the mountain/trekking.
- Check your Guide and porter are also fit and fine or not.
