Trip Over view

Cho La Pass Trek is the best trekking combined with two popular Everest base camp and Gokiyo  trek. Cho La pass is situated at an altitude of 5420 meters from sea level as a combination point of Everest base camp and Gokiyo valley. Cho La Pass Trek start from Lukla walking through Sherpa village, following the Dudhkoshi River valley. Dudhkoshi means milky river, beautiful scenery of high mountains surroundings every day. similarly,  Chola Pass Trek offers you so many popular mountain views and especially four high mountains above eight thousand meters, including Mount Everest.

Cho La Pass trek 19 Days cost start from USD 1405 to USD 2165 per person depending on the numbers of pax booked. cho la pass trekking cost normally includes all ground transportation and domestic flight, Lodge and foods during the trek, guide and porter with their food and salary, National Park fee, khumbu trekking permit fee.

Below is our day to day Itinerary of the Everest Base Camp - Cho La Pass - Gokiyo Trek - 19 Days.

Itineraries

Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu

A representative from Guide for Nepal Pvt Ltd will heartily welcome to you in Tribhuvan international (TIA) airport 1370 meter from sea level in any time of your arrival and help you transfer to hotel at Thamel. Kathmandu is capital city of Nepal and it is normally busy during the day. It is about 15-25 minutes’ drive from airport to Thamel. It depends on your arrival time and traffic. You might have short time to visit some place in Kathmandu and final preparation for Trip from next day.

Day 02

Kathmandu to Manthali

According to our trip planned, take breakfast and be ready in your hotel with all necessary equipment for the ebc-cho la pass-gokiyo trek. Kathmandu to Manthali airport is approximately 130 km in road distance, and it takes about 5/6 hours’ drive by private jeep or car. Manthali airport is situated at 475 meters from sea level. Manthali to Lukla flights start early in the morning during the peak season. So, make sure to reach Manthali airport one day before or the same day early in the morning to catch a Lukla flight.

Day 3

Manthali – Lukla - Phakding

Make sure to wake up and be ready on time to check in at Manthali airport for your flight to Lukla 2805 meters. The Manthali to Lukla flight is about 15 minutes, and we will meet our assistant/porter in Lukla, then start the trek to Phakding 2652 meters. Lukla to Phakding is a very short and easy trek. It takes 3–4 hours to walk through Sherpa village, following the Dudhkoshi river (Milky River) and enjoying the mountain scenery.

Day 4

Phakding to Namche Bazar

After breakfast in the lodge, the trek starts by following the Dudhkoshi river (Milky River), crossing the suspension bridge a few times above Dudhkoshi river. Manzu is the entry gate of Sagarmatha National Park. When you enter Sagarmatha make sure to follow the rules and regulations of the national park while you trek inside the national park. Jorsalle is the best and last option for lunch break. Phakding to Namche bazar is about 5–6 hours. The trail is gradual, and it is quite steps uphill after crossing Hillary Bridge. Namche bazaar is situated at 3440 meters. Explore Namche bazar if you reach there in the early afternoon.

Day 5

Acclimatization day in Namche Bazar

Today is acclimatization day, take a hot breakfast and be ready for a short hike to Everest view point or all the way to Everest view hotel and back to Namche bazar for lunch. After lunch, you can take a rest and explore around Namche bazar in the afternoon. There are some nice bakeries, an ATM, a mountain equipment store and other shops. So, you have a last chance to buy some mountain equipment for your trek in case you forgot in Kathmandu.

Day 6

Namche Bazar to Tyangbuche Monastery

Namche to Tyangboche monastery, 3867 meters, is about a 5–6-hour trek, ascending about 450 meters. And descend a few hundred meters as well to cross the dudhsoshi river at Fungithanga, where we normally make a lunch break before starting to continue steps uphill all the way to Tyangbuche monastery. There are 4–5 lodges situated near the monastery. Tyangbuche monastery is the biggest and most popular monastery in the Khumbu valley in the Everest region. Tyangbuche monastery was established in 1916. But it has already been rebuilt a few times due to an earthquake destroying it in 1934 and fire destroying it in 1989.

Day 7

Tyangbuche monastery to Dingbuche

Tyangboche to Dingboche (4410m) is about a 4-6-hour trek walk through Pangbuche village and Somare. Pangbuche is the last village on the Everest base camp trail. Somare is a better place for a lunch break before continuing another few fours to dingbuching. Today it is about 545 meters ascent in total.

Day 8

Acclimatization day in Dingbuche

Today is another acclimatization day. You can do short activities around dingbuching after breakfast. Just climb a few hundred meters above the lodge and enjoy the beautiful mountain views around and back to the lodge for a hot lunch or climb Nagarjuna peak just below 5000 meters if you are very fit. You are already above 4000 meters. Keep your body warm, drink and eat properly, stay hydrated. If you have any problems or AMS symptoms, share with your friends or guide. Don’t hide the problem and continue.

Day 9

Dingbuche to Lobuche

Dingboche to Labuche (4910m) 4 / 5 hours gradual up and some steps uphill after thukla for one hour and then easy up till Lobuche. Make sure to have some hot lunch at thukla and drink properly. You are just below 5000 meters. Listen and keep your body warm, drink and eat properly, stay hydrated. If you have any problems or AMS symptoms, share them with your friends or guide. Don’t hide the problem and continue.

Day 10

Lobuche-Gorkshep-EBC-Gorkshep

Today is a big day to reach your important destination at Everest base camp 5364 meters. Be ready early in the morning for some hot breakfast, then start the trek with warm equipment. Lobuche to Gorkshep 5140 meters is gradual and steps uphill walking throws glacier at some points just before reaching Gorkshep. There is a 5-6 lodge at Gorkshep, and it is the last lodge on the Everest base camp trail. So, leave your unnecessary things and big bag at Gorkshep and continue to Everest base camp for another 4–5 hour round trip.

Day 11

Gorkshep to Dzongla

Samdo to Dharmasala is the shortest day trek in Manaslu circuit just 6 km in distance take 2-3 hours gradually 660 meters. Dharmasala is located at 4460 meters from sea level and there is only three small lodge and each lodge has some two men tent for accommodation. Dharmasala is also popular as larke pass phedi. Listen and keep your body warm, drink and eat properly, stay hydrated. If you have any problem or AMS symptom share with your friends or Guide. Don’t hide problems and continue.

Day 12

Dzongla – Cho La Pass - Thaknak

Today is another big day to cross cho la pass 5420 meters. Wake up and be ready at the mentioned time with all the necessary equipment, take some chocolate /energy bars, and enough water. Eat some hot breakfast and start hiking early in the morning to Thaknak 4700 meters via cho La pass 5420 meters. Dzongla to Chola pass is approximately 620 meters; ascent takes about 3–5 hours and Chola pass to Thaknak is about 720 meters; descent takes 3–4 hours.

Day 13

Thaknak to Gokiyo Lake

Thaknak to Gokiyo 4790 meters is a very short day's walk, about 2–3 hours, passing Ngangjumpa glacier. You will reach Gokiyo early in the afternoon before lunch. Check the weather conditions and your body condition. If everything is fine, climb Gokiyo ri peak 5357 meters in the afternoon slowly, 2–3 hours to the top and the way back is 1–2 hours. If you climb today, then tomorrow will be an easier day. Keep your body warm, drink and eat properly, stay hydrated. If you have any problems or AMS symptoms, share them with your friends or guide. Don’t hide problem and continue.

Day 14

Gokiyo-Gokiyo Ri Peak-Gokiyo-Dole

Wake up and be ready at the mentioned time with all the necessary equipment and water and start to climb Gokiyo Ri 5360m in the early morning and back to the lodge for breakfast, then trek continue to Dole 4000 meters through Machhermo and some other tea houses on the way, where you can make lunch break. Gokiyo to Gokiyo Ri Peak is a 570-meter ascent on average and Gokiyo Ri Peak to Dole village is almost 1360 meters descent. The total time is roughly 7–9 hours.

Day 15

Dole to Namche Bazar

Take a hot breakfast and be ready for some descending and ascending trek from Dole to Namche bazar 3440 meters. Dole to Namche bazar is roughly a 6–7-hour trek. From Dole to Phortse Thanga downhill and Phort to Mong uphill, then downhill to Kyanjuma. The trail is easier from Kyanjuma to Namche bazar. Dole to Namche bazar is 560 meters descent and a few hundred meters ascent.

Day 16

Namche bazar to Lukla

Today is the last day of the trek from Namche to Lukla 2805 meters. Take a proper hot breakfast and start your trek as soon as possible. It is the same way back from Namche to Lukla. You might remember walking from Lukla – phakding – Namche on the way up. Normally, Namche to Lukla is 6–8 hours and almost 700 meters descending and a few hundred meters ascending as well. It is your last chance to see/treat/tip/goodbye to your assistant/porter as you like.

Day 17

Lukla – Manthali - Kathmandu

Lukla – Manthali flights start early in the morning. Finish packing and be ready for breakfast on time as mentioned by your guide last night. The Lukla to Manthali flight is about 15 minutes and the drive to Kathmandu is about 5–6 hours.

Day 18

Free day in Kathmandu

Today there is not a proper plan in the program. You can do some activities in Kathmandu at extra cost or on your own. Otherwise, shopping/free/extra day or in case of bad weather to fly out/in Kathmandu.

Day 19

Back to home

If your flight time is late afternoon or evening, you can visit some place in Kathmandu your own or if you need help, we can provide guide and vehicle on extra charge. Otherwise, be ready at hotel on time as per your flight details to catch international flight. A Representative from Guide for Nepal Pvt Ltd will arrange transportation and drop you in Tribhuvan international (TIA) airport and good bye for this time wishing safe journey back to home.
