Trip Overview
Trekking and bird watching in the Everest view trek in Sagarmatha National Park is one of the greatest birding experiences in Nepal. A total of 892 birds have been recorded in Nepal. Among them, more than 200 birds have been recorded in Sagarmatha National Park.
Everest view birding trek also popular for Himalayan monal as well. The Everest view birding trek offers you a great chance to explore different types of highland birds, like the Himalayan Monal, the national bird of Nepal, Himalayan vulture, barred vulture, finches, blood pheasant, thrushes, accentors, grosbeaks, tits and many mores. Everest birding trek is probably the best place to explore the Himalayan Monal in Nepal. Besides this, it takes you to the world’s beautiful places: Sherpa villages and Buddhist monasteries, and panoramic mountain views. Below is our day to day Itinerary of the Everest Birding Trek - 11 Days.
Itineraries
Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu
A representative from Guide for Nepal Pvt Ltd will heartily welcome to you in Tribhuvan international (TIA) airport 1370 meter from sea level in any time of your arrival and help you transfer to hotel at Thamel. Kathmandu is capital city of Nepal and it is normally busy during the day. It is about 15-25 minutes’ drive from airport to Thamel. It depends on your arrival time and traffic. You might have short time to visit some place in Kathmandu and final preparation for Trip from next day.
Day 02

Kathmandu to Manthali
According to our trip planned, take breakfast and be ready in your hotel with all the necessary equipment for the Everest view birding trek. Kathmandu to Manthali airport is approximately 130 km in road distance, and it takes about 5/6 hours’ drive by jeep, car. Manthali airport is situated at 475 meters from sea level. There will be some chances to see some on the way from Kathmandu to Manthali and there might be some chance to look around Manthali airport if we reach there early in the afternoon. Manthali to Lukla flights start early in the morning during the peak season. So, make sure to reach Manthali airport one day before or the same day early in the morning to catch a Lukla flight.
Day 3

Manthali – Lukla - Phakding
Make sure to wake up and be ready on time to check in at Manthali airport for your flight to Lukla 2805 meters. The Manthali to Lukla flight is about 15 minutes, and we will meet our assistant/porter in Lukla, then start the trek to Phakding 2652 meters. Lukla to Phakding is a very short and easy trek. It takes 3–4 hours to walk through Sherpa village, following the Dudhkoshi river (Milky river) and enjoying the mountain scenery. There is a chance to take some time and find some birds on the way from Lukla to Phakding.
Day 4

Phakding to Namche Bazar
After breakfast in the lodge, the trek starts by following the Dudhkoshi river (Milky River), crossing the suspension bridge a few times above Dudhkosi river. Manzu is the entry gate of Sagarmatha National Park. When you enter Sagarmatha make sure to follow the rules and regulations of the national park while you trek inside the national park. Jorsalle is the best and last option for lunch break. Phakding to Namche bazar is about 5–6 hours. Namche bazaar is situated at 3440 meters. The trail is gradual, and it is quite steps uphill after crossing Hillary Bridge. We will take some time on the way to try to explore some bird species and do good photography. Today is the first chance to see the Himalayan monel on this trip.
Day 5

Acclimatization day / Birding around
Today is acclimatization day for all trekkers. Have a hot breakfast and be ready for a short hike to the Everest view point or all the way to the Everest view hotel and back to Namche for lunch, doing some birding and enjoying the mountain scenery. After lunch, you can take a rest, explore around Namche bazar in the afternoon or try to do short birds around if possible. There are some nice bakeries, an ATM, a mountain equipment store and other shops. So, you have a last chance to buy some mountain equipment for your trek in case you forgot in Kathmandu.
Day 6

Namche to Khumjung
After breakfast in your lodge, choose a better way to go birds and hike to Khumjung village, 3780 meters. You can take some time on the way to find the Himalayan monal. This area is special for Himalayan monal, blood pheasant and other birds.
Day 7

Khumjung to Monjo
Today is another acclimatization day. You can do short activities around dingbuching after breakfast. Just climb a few hundred meters above the lodge and enjoy the beautiful mountain views around and back to the lodge for a hot lunch or climb Nagarjuna peak just below 5000 meters if you are very fit. You are already above 4000 meters. Keep your body warm, drink and eat properly, stay hydrated. If you have any problems or AMS symptoms, share with your friends or guide. Don’t hide the problem and continue.
Day 8

Monjo to Lukla
Today is the last day of the Everest view birding trek. After breakfast, as usual in the lodge, then start the trek from Monzo to Lukla 2805 meters takes about 6–7 hours walking the same way back through Phaking. It is your last chance to see/treat/tip/goodbye to your assistant/porter as you like.
Day 9

Lukla – Manthali - Kathmandu
Lukla – Manthali flights start early in the morning. Finish packing and be ready for breakfast on time as mentioned by your guide last night. The Lukla to Manthali flight is about 15 minutes and the drive to Kathmandu is about 5–6 hours.
Day 10

Free Day / Birding in Kathmandu
Today there is not a proper plan in the program. But there is a chance to do half-day birding in Phulchoki and Godawori forest at extra cost. Otherwise, shopping/free/extra day or in case of bad weather to fly out/in Kathmandu.
Day 11

Back to home
If your flight time is late afternoon or evening, you can visit some place in Kathmandu or half day birding in Phulchoki – Godawori as you like. We can provide a guide and vehicle at an extra charge. Otherwise, be ready at the hotel on time as per your flight details to catch an international flight. A representative from Guide for Nepal Pvt Ltd will arrange transportation and drop you off at Tribhuvan International (TIA) airport and goodbye to this time, wishing you a safe journey back home.

Everest view birding trek is worth for view. You can see Mt. Everest from closer distance within a week.
Useful Information:

- Double check all the trekking equipment before you start trek.
- Make sure all gadget is ready/full charged and well dress before start birding tour.
- If you have brand new trekking boots, use at least few times before trek.
- Check your flight ticket, trekking permit and other necessary documents before start trek.
- Read and be clear with your program in details before you start your tour.
- Better ask permission before taking photograph of someone during the tour.
- Better not encourage street dog to follow you/group by giving food.
- Better not encourage children to beg by giving money/candy.
