Trip Overview
Bird watching and trekking in Annapurna base camp is the best choice for all bird watchers, nature lovers and trekkers. Annapurna base camp birding trek offers you many different types of migratory and local residency birds including the Himalayan monal (national bird of Nepal).
A total of 518 species of bird have been recorded in the Annapurna conservation area project. You can do bird watching and trekking up to Annapurna base camp at an altitude of 4130m. That is the highest destination in Annapurna base camp people can trek with a normal trekking permit.
Annapurna Birding Trek - 14 Days cost start from USD 1360 to USD 2425 per person depending on the numbers of pax booked. Annapurna birding costs depend on group size and service included in the birding tour. Annapurna birding cost includes ACAP fee, trekking permit fee, bird-watching guide and porter fee, all the ground transportation, hotel and food during the trip. March to May in the spring and October to December in the autumn are the best times to do birding in the Annapurna Conservation Area.

Itineraries
Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu
A representative from Guide for Nepal Pvt. Ltd. will heartily welcome to you in Tribhuvan international (TIA) airport 1370 meter from sea level in any time of your arrival and help you transfer to hotel at Thamel. Kathmandu is capital city of Nepal and it is normally busy during the day. It is about 15-25 minutes’ drive from airport to Thamel. It depends on your arrival time and traffic. You might have some time to explore Thamel or visit some important place in Kathmandu city and final preparation for Trekking from next day.
Day 02

Kathmandu to Pokhara
After breakfast in your hotel, you will start your journey to Pokhara 820 meter as per planned. It takes about 6-8 hours by tourist bus or private vehicle to reach Pokhara. It depends on road condition and traffic even Kathmandu to Pokhara is just 200 km far in road distance. all the tourist buses leave at 7 am from near Thamel. Flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara takes about 25 minutes and flight is available from 8:30 AM onwards hole day by few different domestic airlines. We have designed this program taking plane for time saving, comfort journey and especially beautiful scenery from plan. Pokhara is one of the most popular touristic places in Nepal. There are some nice places to visit in Pokhara if you have a free time. Panoramic view of hole Annapurna range, fishtail, Lamjung Himal is visible from your hotel at lakeside.
Day 3

Pokhara to Banthati
After breakfast, drive to Hile by private jeep, where you have a chance to stop and see some birds on the way. The birding trek starts from hile walking through Tikhedunga and Ulleri village and continues to Banthati. 2210 meters normally takes 6/7 hours ascending 700 meters. Hile to banthati is mostly a step and some gradual uphill. But still quite nice for birding along the trai
Day 4

Banthati to Ghorepani
Birding Trek starts after breakfast as usual from Banthati to Ghorepani 2860-meter walking 4–5 hours, passing Nangethati, walking through mixed and rhododendron forest. Most of the trail is some steps up and gradually uphill all the way to Ghorepani, about 650-meters ascent in total. Today is a chance to see some forest birds along the trail.
Day 5

Ghorepani – Poon hill - Banthati
Today everyone has to wake up early in the morning to see the sunrise view and Mountain View from Poon Hill, 3210 meters. It takes 45 minutes to 1 hour all the way up to Poon Hill from Ghorepani. After Poon Hill you back to your hotel for breakfast and pack bag, then trek to Banthati 2750-meter walking 5–6 hours, some ascending and descending through mixed, rhododendron forest in step narrow trail. You will have a chance to see some forest birds along the trail.
Day 6

Banthati to Chhomrong
The trek starts normally at 7-8 AM. After breakfast, go downhill and up to Tadapani through some Rhododendron Forest and Chuile village till you cross the suspension bridge at the bottom of Chuile village. Then the trek continues towards Chomrong 2170meters. It might take 6–8 hours in total to pass Gurjung village to reach Chomrong village, 2170 meters. Lunch break might be at Gurjung village or anywhere at a suitable time. Today is a better chance for different species of birds during the trail.
Day 7

Chhomrong to Bamboo
The birding trek from Chomrong starts after breakfast in your lodge. It is about 5–6 hours walking through some mixed and bamboo forest. The trail from Chomrong to Bamboo 2310 meters is quite narrow and steps up and down, passing lower and upper sinuwa. Today might also be a good day to record some birds.
Day 8

Bamboo to Deurali
The birding trek starts after breakfast as usual. It is all the way and gradually uphill to Deurali 3330 meters. Today’s trail is mostly inside bamboo and some other mixed forest. Today is the best chance to find the Himalayan monal, the national bird of Nepal.
Day 9

Deurali to Annapurna base camp (ABC)
The bird trek from Deurali to Annapurna base camp 4130-meter is about 5–6 hours, including tea/lunch break at Machapuchhhre base camp. The trail is gradually uphill all the way to Annapurna base camp, ascending 800 meters. One day you will have the chance to see an almost 360-degree view. The best views start from Machapuchhre base camp. Normally, mountain weather is not very stable and changes quite fast. So, it is better to start and reach your destination at a good time, eat and drink properly, stay warm and hydrated. The sunset view of fishtail is absolutely nice in clear weather.
Day 10

Annapurna base camp (ABC) to Dovan
This morning, everybody woke up before sunrise and waited to see the first sunshine on top of Annapurna one and other mountains. After that, people will be busy taking individual and group photos, then go back to the lodge for breakfast. After breakfast and finally packing your luggage, the trek starts down to Dovan 2600-meters 5–6 hours Descending about 1500 meters. Today is probably a good chance to see some finches, sunbirds, Himalayan Monal and many more.
Day 11

Dovan to Chhomrong
Today you can have your breakfast from 7-8 AM and trek to Chhomrong 2170-meter walking 5–6 hours through some bamboo forest and mixed forest. Today’s trail is quite narrow, up and down hill steps. It is about a 500-meter descent in total and ascent few hundred ascents as well. Today is a better chance for thrushes, laughing thrushes, babblers and some forest birds.
Day 12

Chhomrong to Pokhara
This morning you will have another good chance to see Annapurna South and Hiuchuli from a close distance in good weather. After breakfast, as usual, you will trek about 2 hours down to Mathkyu (jeep station) almost a 600-meter descent and drive back to Pokhara by local jeep for 3–4 hours in total. You are free to explore the lakeside in the afternoon/evening and dinner with a Guide or on your own. There is a good chance to see many different species from Chomrong to Pokhara.
Day 13

Pokhara to Kathmandu
You can have breakfast as program and be ready to back Kathmandu on time as per planned, drive 6-8 hours or fly 25 minutes.
Day 14

Back to home
If your flight time is late afternoon or evening, you can visit some place in Kathmandu on your own or, if you need help, we can provide a guide and vehicle on an extra charge. Otherwise, be ready at the hotel on time as per your flight details to catch an international flight. A representative from Guide for Nepal Pvt Ltd will arrange transportation and drop you off at Tribhuvan International (TIA) airport and goodbye for this time wishing you a safe journey back home.
